Chadstone shopping center
Chadstone, Melbourne’s first self-contained shopping center, opened in October 1960 and has since undergone multiple expansions. Initially an open-air mall, it added a roof in the 1960s and doubled its floorspace in the 1980s, including a cinema. Subsequent redevelopments made it Australia’s largest shopping center by the late 2000s. Today, Chadstone spans 200,000 square meters with over 550 stores, featuring major retailers like Myer, David Jones, and HOYTS.
